Premier Boxing Champions has announced a Prime Video-streamed doubleheader featuring two marquee fighters in the super middleweight division. Caleb Plant, a former IBF champion and current interim titlist, will square off against Armando Resendiz (15-2, 11 KOs) in a 12-round main event, while two-division champion Jermall Charlo faces Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna (39-5-1, 18 KOs) in the co-feature.
Caleb Plant returns after a ninth-round knockout victory over Trevor McCumby last September. The 32-year-old Nashville native has lost only to unified 168-pound champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and former belt holder David Benavidez. Plant says he has been “quietly grinding” with trainer Stephen “Breadman” Edwards since his last fight and is looking to showcase his skills.
Known for his sharp jab and slick footwork, “Sweethands” carries a backstory of perseverance: he boxed to escape poverty in rural Tennessee, lost a young daughter to illness in 2015, and fought through personal tragedy en route to capturing the IBF title in 2019.

Standing in his way is Mexico’s Armando Resendiz, a 26-year-old power puncher aiming to score the biggest victory of his career. Resendiz was stopped by Elijah Garcia in 2023 but rebounded with a win over Fernando Paliza in February.
A native of Nayarit who trains under Manny Robles in Southern California, Resendiz turned pro at 16 on the rugged Mexican club circuit. He broke out with a 2023 upset of Jarrett Hurd - out-mauling the former unified 154-lb champ - to prove he thrives in grueling infighting battles.
In the night’s co-main event, Jermall Charlo makes his second appearance in the super middleweight ranks following an 18-month hiatus. The Houston boxer and former titleholder at junior middleweight and middleweight debuted at 168 with a decision over Jose Benavidez Jr. in November 2023. Charlo now faces Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna, who brings a nine-fight winning streak but has struggled when stepping up in competition. At 33, LaManna views this bout as his opportunity to secure a career-defining victory.

The doubleheader holds extra significance due to the ongoing rivalry between Plant and Charlo, highlighted by a backstage altercation in 2023 that included a physical exchange. Both fighters have teased a future grudge match, and a potential showdown may be closer than ever if they both prevail on May 31. For now, they must get past motivated opponents in Resendiz and LaManna, respectively, before any official meeting between them takes shape.
