Rolando Romero, the current WBA junior welterweight champion, is gearing up for his forthcoming fight against Isaac Cruz, but discussions around him often veer towards Ryan Garcia. Romero and Garcia's past sparring sessions have fueled much of this conversation, where Romero reportedly had the upper hand. Despite Garcia being a rumored opponent for Romero before the Cruz fight was finalized, Garcia is now set to face Devin Haney on April 20.

During a recent virtual press conference, when questioned about Garcia’s critical views on his fighting skills shared on social media, Romero shifted the focus to his immediate challenge. “As far as Ryan Garcia, I am fighting a much more exciting fighter now,” Romero stated, emphasizing the significance of his upcoming bout with Cruz over Garcia’s remarks.

Romero is keen on making a statement in his return to the ring after a contentious victory against Ismael Barroso last May, which led to his title opportunity. Isaac Cruz, moving up from the lightweight division, presents a fresh challenge for Romero, who seems unperturbed by Garcia’s criticism.

Addressing Garcia’s behavior and comments directly, Romero expressed indifference towards Garcia’s opinion, attributing it to Garcia’s personal issues. “He doesn’t know who is with him and who is against him. That’s on him,” Romero remarked, showing little concern for Garcia’s online antics.
