Ben Whittaker is set to return to the ring on the undercard of the highly anticipated light heavyweight showdown between Joshua Buatsi and Dan Azeez. This event, scheduled for Saturday, February 3rd at the OVO Arena Wembley in London, promises to be a thrilling night for boxing fans, with coverage live on Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland, and on Peacock in the USA.
Whittaker, a Tokyo 2020 Olympic Silver medalist with a professional record of 5-0, aims to continue his impressive streak following a knockout victory over Stiven Leonetti Dredhaj. He will face the Swiss-based French fighter Khalid Graidia in an eight-round bout. Graidia is no stranger to British competition, having previously fought Whittaker's domestic rivals and taken British and Commonwealth Champion Dan Azeez the distance.
Whittaker, known as “The Surgeon,” is confident about starting 2024 with a bang. “I’m putting the whole light heavyweight division on notice," he declared, signaling his readiness for another significant year in his career. Ben Shalom, CEO and Founder of BOXXER, echoed this sentiment, highlighting Whittaker's star power and predicting a year of headlining shows and title fights for him.
The night will also feature Adam Azim defending his EBU European Super Lightweight Title against the undefeated former champion Enock Poulsen. Additionally, rising featherweight Francesca Hennessy and heavyweight Jeamie TKV are set to compete, with Hennessy seeking her third professional victory and TKV looking to rebound from his first career defeat.
