Regis Prograis, the reigning WBC junior welterweight champion, is gearing up for the first title defense of his second world title reign, and a potential face-off with undisputed lightweight world champion Devin Haney. According to Haney, he has reached out to promoter Eddie Hearn to explore this matchup. Haney is coming off a hard-fought twelve round unanimous decision win over Vasiliy Lomachenko last month, which could be his final appearance at 135-pounds.

Prograis, set to defend his title on June 17 against late replacement Danielito Zorrilla in his hometown of New Orleans, has been closely studying Haney’s last fight. He asserts his readiness to take on Haney in the next bout, but he warns that Haney is likely to face a punishing defeat, possibly ending within the distance. He noted that Haney’s perceived weak performance against Lomachenko has put him in a challenging position to prove himself, making a high-stakes fight against Prograis an appealing option.

In a conversation with BroBible, Prograis shared his perspective on a potential showdown with Haney, saying, “I love that fight. Devin is in a tough spot. If he wants to fight me, I’m with it. I think I stop him, I really think I can hurt him. You look at the shots that Loma hit him with, and Loma is a 30 pounder. I’m a 40 pounder, and I’ve been a 40 pounder my whole career with a lot of knockouts, so if I hit him with those same shots, I feel like I'm gonna hurt him.”
