Felix "Tito" Trinidad was celebrated in grand fashion at the WBA convention in Orlando, Florida, where he was awarded the status of centennial champion. The Puerto Rican icon becomes only the second fighter to receive this honor, following Manny Pacquiao in 2021.
The 51-year-old Trinidad, who boasts a record of 42-3 (32 KOs) and titles across three weight classes, was met with thunderous chants of "Tito! Tito! Tito!" as he took the stage at the Caribe Royale Convention Hall. WBA President Gilberto Mendoza Jr. and honorary champion Christy Martin presented Trinidad with the commemorative belt, marking a proud moment for the Puerto Rican boxing legend.
Mendoza praised Trinidad's legacy, highlighting Puerto Rico’s rich boxing history and the island's ability to produce champions in every division. Calling Trinidad one of the best fighters in the sport's history, Mendoza reflected on their long-standing connection through the years.
Trinidad, visibly moved, expressed his gratitude for the recognition, celebrating his storied career that spanned welterweight, junior middleweight, and middleweight divisions. Meanwhile, Christy Martin also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of continuing to support and uplift the sport.
