The sold-out 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland was buzzing with anticipation as fans eagerly awaited a highly touted main event broadcast over DAZN. The Olympic Gold Medalist of 2012 and the reigning IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO World Lightweight champion, Katie Taylor (22-1, 6 KOs), was about to make her first professional appearance in her home country, Ireland. The fierce competition came in the form of IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO Super Lightweight champion Chantelle “Il Capo” Cameron (17-0, 8 KOs).
Eventually, the night belonged to Chantelle Cameron, as she successfully defended her Super Lightweight titles in a majority decision, further solidifying her standing in the world of boxing. The bout was an all-action thriller, with both fighters showing why they’re considered top-tier athletes in the sport. The final scores read 96-94 twice and 95-95, reflecting the intense competitiveness of the fight.
The co-main event was equally riveting. A showdown between WBA Continental Super Welterweight champion JJ "Kid Shamrock" Metcalf (25-2, 15 KOs) and IBO World Super Welterweight champ Dennis "Hurricane" Hogan (31-5-1, 7 KOs) turned heads. Both fighters were eager to assert their dominance in the ring, with Metcalf proving his power with a left to Hogan's chin in the third round. The battle continued fiercely, with Metcalf again rocking Hogan in the sixth and seventh rounds. However, Hogan's perseverance was evident as he managed to hold on despite the onslaught.
As the night progressed, the undercard produced its share of thrills. The Boxing Union of Ireland Celtic title saw Thomas Carty (6-0, 5 KOs) scoring a decisive win over "Ghos" Jay McFarlane (14-8, 5 KOs) in a scheduled 8-round heavyweight fight. Carty demonstrated his power by securing three knockdowns before the referee halted the fight in the third round. Meanwhile, in the flyweight division, Maisey Rose Courtney (4-0, 0 KOs) narrowly defeated Kate Radomska (3-2, 0 KOs) with a final score of 58-57.
