Tim Tszyu is set to defend his WBO junior middleweight title against Sebastian Fundora in the main event of Premier Boxing Champions’ first Pay-Per-View on Prime Video. This bout, scheduled for March 30 in Las Vegas, comes as a result of Keith Thurman's recent training injury, which led to his withdrawal from the contest. Tszyu, originally preparing for a fight with Thurman, now faces a considerable challenge in adjusting his strategy to take on Fundora, a significantly taller southpaw known for his relentless pressure.
Fundora, nicknamed “The Towering Inferno,” stands at 6-foot-5 and competes in the 154-pound category. His last fight resulted in a seventh-round knockout loss to Brian Mendoza, marking one of the most unexpected outcomes of 2023. However, Fundora's upcoming fight against Tszyu will also be for the vacant WBC title, adding another layer of stakes to this highly anticipated match.
The change in opponent from Thurman to Fundora presents Tszyu with a drastically different style to contend with. Fundora's southpaw stance and aggressive approach contrast significantly with Thurman's orthodox boxing style and preference for mobility. Tszyu's adaptability and readiness to take on Fundora at short notice further highlight his dedication and ambition in the sport.
The event’s co-feature will see Rolly Romero defending his WBA junior welterweight title against Isaac Cruz, with Erislandy Lara also putting his WBA middleweight title on the line against Michael Zerafa in another featured bout.
