The mega-fight between Devin Haney (29-0, 15 KOs) and Vasily Lomachenko (17-2, 11 KOs) may take place on May 20 at a still undetermined location.
The Haney-Lomachenko fight can occur in the Middle East, as discussed by fans on social media. But the location of their fight, whether in New York or elsewhere, is still uncertain. We'll soon find out, but May 20th appears promising at least. Haney wanted the bout to take place in March, but Lomachenko—the more experienced fighter—will now fight on May 20 as he wanted. That benefits Lomachenko and could harm Haney, who will have to act quickly to lose weight and get ready after Ramadan finishes on April 21.
On the 13th of January, Haney, 24, announced on social media that the Loma fight would be on pay-per-view. This sparked a great deal of backlash from boxing fans who claimed the fight didn't deserve the status.
Of course, Haney's promoters can put it on PPV regardless and hope that enough people will buy it to the point that it will help fund Devin & Lomachenko's purses to some extent.
The promoters of Haney and Lomachenko, Top Rank, are hoping to stage the fight, but it is unclear whether it will happen at this time. It might not be a big enough fight to go overseas because Haney isn't a big star yet, and his best opponents are George Kambosos Jr. and Jorge Linares.
