Teofimo Lopez, the former unified lightweight champion, has made a bold prediction about the upcoming clash between Vasiliy Lomachenko and George Kambosos Jr. According to Lopez, not only will Lomachenko emerge victorious in their bout for the vacant IBF lightweight title, but he will also make Kambosos look like an amateur. The fight, set to take place in Kambosos’ homeland of Australia, is eagerly anticipated, but Lopez doesn't see it being a competitive match.

Lopez, who previously suffered a split-decision defeat to Kambosos, believes that Lomachenko’s skill set and experience in the ring will be too much for Kambosos to handle. “You’ve got to be in there to really experience it,” Lopez stated, emphasizing the unique challenge that Lomachenko poses to his opponents. He commended Kambosos for taking on such a tough opponent but remains confident about the outcome, foreseeing a decisive win for Lomachenko.

Kambosos, with a record of 21-2 and 10 KOs, has proven his durability in the ring, notably going the distance with former undisputed lightweight champ Devin Haney. However, Lopez is convinced that Lomachenko’s approach and prowess will lead to a different result. He views Lomachenko as a dangerous opponent, especially after his controversial loss to Haney, and expects him to come back with a vengeance.

Lopez, who is currently preparing for his own title defense as the WBO junior welterweight champion, reflects on his experience facing Lomachenko in his prime, acknowledging the Ukrainian’s formidable skills. He sees the upcoming bout as a chance for both fighters to settle scores within the division, expressing a sense of camaraderie with Lomachenko in this endeavor.
