Teofimo Lopez recently voiced concerns about Gervonta “Tank” Davis’s fight choices, suggesting Davis isn't taking on the sport's top talent. Lopez feels that Tank’s management, associated with Mayweather Promotions & PBC, is strategically placing him in favorable matches, sidestepping elite fighters.

Boxing enthusiasts have grown skeptical, with many wanting to see Davis against notable names like Teofimo, Vasily Lomachenko, and others. Yet, hopes for such matchups are diminishing as Davis continues to face what many see as less challenging opponents.

Boxing commentator Paulie Malignaggi weighed in, noting that Tank’s career trajectory seems predetermined. He remarked, “They have a plan for Tank to be a star by taking on B & C-level fighters.”

On the flip side, Lopez, while not shying away from top-tier opponents, has been notably inactive in the ring. He emphasizes the importance of training and personal time, especially with his family. However, if his inactivity persists, he might risk losing his 140-lb title with the WBO. The overarching sentiment in the boxing community is clear: top talents should face off to ensure the sport’s vitality.
