A rib injury has sidelined Takuma Inoue, postponing his anticipated WBA bantamweight title defense against ex-IBF junior bantamweight champion Jerwin Ancajas. Originally slated for November 15 at Tokyo’s Ryogoku Kokugikan, the entire event now faces rescheduling.
Promoter Hideyuki Ohashi shared the unfortunate news: “Takuma Inoue suffered a fractured rib during training, leading to the decision to postpone the event.” No information about the rescheduled date is available as of yet.
This matchup was significant for Inoue, who had previously secured his WBA 118-pound title by defeating Liborio Solis in April. Ancajas, after a win over Wilner Soto in June, was keenly preparing for the bout.
Meanwhile, the boxing world is abuzz with the news of Naoya Inoue defending his WBC/WBO junior featherweight titles against Marlon Tapales, set for December 26 in Tokyo.
