Richardson Hitchins has wasted no time calling out Devin Haney for his first defense of the IBF light welterweight title. Hitchins captured the belt on Saturday night with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Liam Paro in San Juan, Puerto Rico, scoring 116-112, 116-112, and 117-111 on the cards.
Hitchins reminded fans and Haney of his pre-fight promise. "Haney said if I get a belt, he'll fight me. So, let’s do it," Hitchins said after the fight. "I’m ready for any of the top names. It’s time to secure my legacy and make the biggest fights."

Haney, who has been inactive since his April loss to Ryan Garcia, might face a hurdle in the IBF's strict rehydration rules, which limit fighters to a 10-pound gain after the weigh-in. Haney, known to rehydrate significantly, could see the restriction as a dealbreaker.
While Hitchins is ready for the challenge, some fans of Paro feel the Australian champion made a strategic error by taking the fight on neutral turf instead of his home country. However, Hitchins' technical dominance throughout the fight suggests the location might not have made much difference.
Now holding the IBF title, Hitchins aims to secure his spot among the division's elite. Will Haney step up, or will the IBF’s weight restrictions keep this matchup from happening?
