Contrary to the boxing world’s cautious development strategy for heavyweight Jared Anderson, Shakur Stevenson, an Olympic silver medalist, is suggesting a bold next move. Following Anderson’s hard-fought victory over transient former heavyweight champion Charles Martin, many observers have suggested a measured approach, featuring bouts against lesser challengers or fringe contenders. Stevenson, however, has another idea.

The burgeoning star Anderson, known for his knockout power and skill, has been described as the division’s next big thing. Despite being given a stern test by Martin, Anderson emerged victorious, leading some to recommend that his progression be slowed to allow further development. But Stevenson isn’t one of them.

Instead, Stevenson sees Anderson’s future in a far more challenging light. Speaking to ThaBoxingVoice, he proposed a heavyweight showdown. “I wanna see him fight Usyk,” he declared, referring to the division's reigning champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Usyk’s rapid ascension to the top, including back-to-back victories over Anthony Joshua, makes him a formidable contender. The Ukrainian now holds the IBF, WBO, and WBA heavyweight titles, and is expected to defend them against Daniel Dubois. Despite Usyk's dominance, Stevenson is undeterred, asserting that Anderson is ready for the challenge. “I think Usyk is a great fighter. I think Jared has a lot of dog in him,” Stevenson stated, "I think it would be interesting to see boxer vs. dog. I think Jared’s dog is gonna come out on top.”
