In an electrifying night of boxing in Guadalajara, Canelo Promotions unveiled two of their most promising undefeated American talents during the Canelo-Ryder fight week.
The evening’s main event featured an exhilarating match between super featherweight Jonathan Lopez (11-0, 8 KOs) of Orlando, Florida, and Osvaldo Nunez (5-5, 0 KOs) hailing from Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico. Fans were on the edge of their seats as Lopez demonstrated his prowess, flooring Nunez in the second round. The thrilling bout came to an abrupt end at 1:01 in the third round when the referee called a stop to the fight, due to a gruesome cut above Nunez’s left eye.
In another gripping match-up, super welterweight Lazaro Lorenzana (11-0, 8 KOs) from San Diego, California, narrowly secured victory in an intense eight-round split decision against Alexis Rios (4-3-1, 1 KO) of Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico. The nail-biting contest saw judges award scores of 77-75 and 77-75 in favor of Lorenzana, while Rios received a 79-73 score from the dissenting judge.
