The wait will be a little longer. The rematch, originally scheduled for February 4th, has been pushed back, most likely to March. According to Mike Coppinger, the Taylor-Catterall rematch has been postponed due to a scheduling conflict, with Sky Sports not wanting to have two pay-per-view offerings so close together, and the Chris Eubank-Liam Smith PPV fight will go ahead as planned on January 21st.

The first meeting was also postponed due to Taylor's knee injury, which pushed the undisputed 140-pound championship fight from December to Feb. 26. Taylor (19-0, 13 KOs) won a split decision to retain his four 140-pound titles after being floored in the eighth round of a thrilling fight. had planned to move up to 147 pounds after that, but he changed his mind after a public outcry over the judging. Taylor, 31, was even reported receiving death threats.

After that fight, the then-undisputed champion was dropped from ESPN's pound-for-pound rankings, and he proceeded to do everything in his power to secure the rematch. This included relinquishing three of his four junior welterweight titles, the IBF, WBA, and WBC, in order to avoid mandatory obligations with various No. 1 contenders.
