Former junior middleweight champion Jaime Munguia is in negotiations for a fight against Bruno Surace set for December 14 at Estadio Caliente in Tijuana, Mexico. If finalized, this will be Munguia's third fight of 2024, following an eleventh-round knockout of Erik Bazinyan in September and a unanimous decision loss to Canelo Alvarez in May.

Surace, a 26-year-old French fighter, boasts an unbeaten record but has yet to face top-tier competition, having fought primarily in France. Despite lacking significant recognition or a ranking within the middleweight division's top 15, this bout could be a major opportunity for Surace to make a name for himself on the international stage.

Munguia's career has been defined by bouts against less challenging opposition, a strategy that allowed him to accumulate an impressive 44 wins before his loss to Canelo. This potential fight with Surace signals a return to that pattern, but it could set up future opportunities. If successful, Munguia may target more formidable contenders like Diego Pacheco, David Morrell, or even Jermall Charlo to push for another shot at the super middleweight elite.

On the undercard, we can expect to see former two-division world champion Luis "Pantera" Nery return to action for the first time since his knockout loss to Naoya Inoue in May.
