Tyson Fury didn’t hold back when talking about his $200 million fortune during a press conference for his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on December 21st. Fury made it clear that winning world titles or building a legacy is not his priority - money is.
"I’ve had 40 professional fights, and I was in every single one of them for the money. If I wasn’t getting paid, I wouldn’t have done any of them," Fury said.
At 36, Fury has shifted his focus to cashing in before he retires, stating he’ll keep fighting until "the wheels fall off." He acknowledges his desire for money over belts or legacy, trying to deflect attention from his underdog status heading into the rematch against Usyk. Fury knows Usyk is the favorite, and by framing his goals around money, he attempts to soften the blow of a potential second defeat.

Fury’s resume has come under fire, with critics pointing out that apart from victories over Wladimir Klitschko and Deontay Wilder, his career has largely been filled with easier opposition. But despite the criticism, Fury continues to command huge paydays, highlighting the stark difference in earnings between UK-based fighters like himself and Anthony Joshua compared to global talents like Usyk.
"It’s not about belts or legacy, it’s about making as much money as possible," Fury told Sky Sports.
