A unique and exciting exhibition boxing match has been scheduled between the legendary Manny Pacquiao and Muay Thai icon Buakaw Banchamek. This much-anticipated bout is set to take place on April 20, as confirmed by the Banchamek Gym’s Facebook page. The event is a collaborative effort organized by Thailand’s Fresh Air Festival Co Ltd and cinema operator SF Corporation.

The fight will follow traditional boxing rules, posing a distinct challenge for 41-year-old Buakaw, a revered figure in Muay Thai, as he faces an eight-division world champion like the 45-year-old Pacquiao. The match format will feature six three-minute rounds with two-minute breaks, offering a blend of intensity and endurance.

Vinij Lertratanachai, CEO of Fresh Air Festival, expressed his excitement and honor in hosting these two renowned fighters. “It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity you won’t want to miss,” he stated, acknowledging the historic significance of this event.

Manny Pacquiao, a celebrated figure in boxing, officially retired from the sport in 2021 following a unanimous decision loss to Yordenis Ugas. Although he had the option for an immediate rematch, Pacquiao chose to end his professional career. However, he has since remained connected to the sport, participating in an exhibition match in 2022 at the KINTEX arena in Goyang, near Seoul, Korea. In this event, Pacquiao engaged in a friendly match with South Korean YouTuber DK Yoo, raising funds for both the Ukraine conflict and homeless Filipinos.

This upcoming fight between Pacquiao and Buakaw promises to be a captivating event, not just for boxing and Muay Thai enthusiasts but for sports fans globally. It’s a rare opportunity to witness two legends from different martial arts disciplines clash under the boxing rule set, offering a unique spectacle in the world of combat sports.
