Ryan Garcia recently shared his thoughts on Canelo Alvarez’s chances against the undefeated light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev, and he believes Canelo can get the job done.

Canelo, standing at 5’8”, would be giving away significant size against Beterbiev, who has dominated the light heavyweight division with his power and relentless pressure. However, Ryan points to Canelo’s recent performance against Edgar Berlanga, a fighter who rehydrated to 193 lbs, showing that Canelo can handle the size of a true light heavyweight. Garcia is confident that Canelo’s experience with faster, more agile fighters and his solid chin would give him the edge against Beterbiev, who is known for his slower hand speed and methodical approach.

Beterbiev’s age is also a factor in Garcia’s prediction. At 39, Beterbiev might be showing signs of slowing down, while the 34-year-old Canelo could have the stamina and youth to outlast him in the ring.

Interestingly, Canelo has yet to publicly express a desire to face Beterbiev, even though many believe his style is better suited to countering the Russian’s pressure than it was against Bivol, a pure boxer. For now, fans are left wondering if Canelo will indeed take on this challenge, which would add another historic chapter to his already impressive career.
