Jose Ramirez, after transitioning to a new weight class, continues to chase significant fights that will impact both his earnings and legacy.

The former unified junior welterweight champion is set to battle Rances Barthelemy at the SaveMart Center in Fresno, California, aiming to use this fight as a stepping stone to more prominent matchups. With a record of 28-1 and 18 KOs, Ramirez will enjoy the advantage of fighting in his home territory of California’s Central Valley.

His trainer, Robert Garcia, has high hopes for Ramirez under the banner of his new promoter. After parting ways with Top Rank, Ramirez signed with Golden Boy Promotions in January, aiming for bigger fights that eluded him last year, such as a potential bout with Teofimo Lopez.

Ramirez is now eyeing other significant names in the division, particularly those within the DAZN network, including possible matches against Devin Haney or Ryan Garcia. Willing to fight at 140 pounds or even slightly higher, Ramirez is open to the challenges that might come in different weight categories. After a 13-month hiatus from the ring, his last victory being an 11th-round knockout of Richard Commey, Ramirez is eager to shake off any rust and confront any top contender that comes his way.
