Jake Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer, has set an ambitious new goal for his boxing career: winning a gold medal at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

During a recent episode of his podcast, Paul announced his intention to enter the field for the upcoming Olympics, vowing to bring home a gold medal.

Paul, who has amassed a 10-1 record in his professional boxing career, has only recently begun facing full-time boxers. His most recent victory was a TKO win over Mike Perry on June 20.

So, Paul's journey to Olympic glory won't be easy. He typically competes around 200 pounds, placing him in the heavyweight division, where the competition is fierce. For instance, Azerbaijani fighter Loren Alfonso and Uzbekistan's Lazizbek Mullojonov, both highly experienced and decorated boxers, can also compete in 2028 for the gold medal. Alfonso boasts a great record, while Mullojonov, though less experienced professionally, has already earned gold and bronze medals at major international competitions.

The path to the Olympics is also challenging for American boxers, who must meet strict eligibility criteria and place in the top two at a qualifier tournament in their weight category. Notably, the U.S. hasn’t won a boxing medal in the heavyweight division since Deontay Wilder took bronze in 2008, and the last American to claim gold in this category was Ray Mercer in 1988.

Whether or not Jake can rise to the challenge remains to be seen, but his Olympic dream has certainly added a new layer of intrigue to his boxing career.
