As you know, Jake Paul and Nate Diaz are set to face off in a boxing fight at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on Saturday, August 5th in the main event, airing live on DAZN.
Before the much-anticipated bout, the YouTuber-turned-pro-boxer and former UFC fighter held a press conference where they discussed their legacies, each other, the upcoming fight, and their future plans. Jake Paul expressed his excitement for the fight against Diaz, saying it had always been the plan following his fight with Tommy Fury. He acknowledged Diaz’s status as a legend in the fighting world and stated his intention to knock Diaz out, something Conor McGregor couldn’t do.
Jake Paul also talked about how he’s used to being doubted and how that doubt fuels him to prove people wrong. He discussed the importance of learning from his loss against Tommy Fury, making adjustments to his team, and continuing to grow as a fighter. Paul touched on his love for boxing and his plans to fight the best names in the sport, as well as his contributions to boxing, including promoting women’s boxing and supporting young prospects.
Nate Diaz, on the other hand, shared his reasons for taking on Jake Paul after leaving the UFC, stating that he always planned to fight the biggest names and the best fighters. He praised Paul’s hard work and motivation and expressed his desire to fight the best of the best. Diaz also spoke about his background in boxing, explaining that he’s always trained like a pro boxer and is excited to showcase his skills in the upcoming bout. Finally, Diaz commented on his future, saying he plans to stick around in the sport and doesn’t see himself going anywhere anytime soon.
