Oleksandr Gvozdyk has confirmed his upcoming fight with David Benavidez, which is set for June 22 in Houston, although it has not been formally announced yet.

He disclosed in a recent interview that despite the lack of public announcement, those within the boxing community are well aware of the fight due to inside sources. He mentioned, “It’s not even been announced yet because everybody already knows due to inside sources. I don’t know what they are doing, maybe they don’t want it before they announce another fight or something like that.”

Gvozdyk himself is not concerned about the external attention surrounding his opponent, especially related to Canelo Alvarez, stating, “It doesn’t affect the status of the fight, it doesn’t affect my opponent, it doesn’t affect my purse. It might affect my ego, but I’m cool with my ego so I don’t give a s***.”

The fight’s arrangement has been slightly chaotic, with Gvozdyk noting some organizational confusion from the promoters, possibly Premier Boxing Champions (PBC), about when and how the fight would be announced. Despite this, Gvozdyk is focused on the fight itself.

Interestingly, Benavidez was recently seen in a state that led many to question his dedication to the sport, but Gvozdyk remains unfazed. He expects to face the best version of Benavidez, regardless of his recent public appearances, remarking, “Yes we saw him drunk on TV, but we are more than two months away from the fight, he probably hasn’t even started his camp yet.”
