The heavyweight boxing arena is buzzing with talks of a showdown between titans Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder. Scheduled for a potential January duel in Saudi Arabia, fans were eagerly anticipating a battle of former champions. However, veteran promoter Frank Warren is damping spirits with his prediction: the fight won’t materialize.

Due to unforeseen alterations in the Saudi Arabian management group responsible for boxing, the eagerly anticipated clash between Joshua and Wilder now finds itself in uncertainty. Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, isn’t letting the grass grow under his feet though, as he’s actively scouting alternate fights and locations for his boxer. While the match-up between these two stalwarts hangs in the balance, the boxing community wonders: What next?

Warren, always one to offer his perspective, has an enticing proposition. He’s championing for a bout between Joshua and Daniel Dubois, fresh off a loss to the reigning unified world champion, Oleksandr Usyk. Notably, Usyk has twice bested Joshua. Speaking candidly to IFL TV, Warren stated, “You know what would be a good fight in the UK and people would buy tickets to watch it? Him [Joshua] and Daniel Dubois. That would sell out anywhere... It’s a big fight.”

As mid-September rolls around without a solid announcement, Warren’s doubts about the Joshua-Wilder fight seem increasingly likely. In his words, “It ain’t going to happen.” But if Warren gets his way, fans might just witness a different, yet equally electrifying, heavyweight contest.
