Undisputed featherweight champion Amanda Serrano (44-2-1, 30 KOs) will not face undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor (22-0, 6 KOs) in their rematch on May 20 of 2023, according to the news by Matchroom Boxing and Most Valuable Promotions.

Although the precise form of Serrano's injury is unknown, it reportedly stems from her victory over Miriam Gutierrez in December 2021 and affects her hand. Since then, Serrano has fought three times, but the 949 blows she landed in her victory over Erika Cruz on February 4 for the undisputed featherweight title prevented her hand from recovering.

Serrano's hand won't require surgery, but because the pain hasn't gone down as quickly as usual, she'll need to take additional time off before going back into the ring.

A rematch between Taylor and Serrano was first announced in February of 2023, following Serrano's triumph against Cruz in New York to unify all four major featherweight world championships.
