The domestic-violence case against WBA lightweight titleholder Gervonta Davis was dismissed Tuesday, per the Miami-Dade County Court website. The move came after the alleged victim - Davis’s former girlfriend and mother of two of his children - declined to prosecute. According to a statement the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office provided to TMZ, the victim’s attorney relayed her decision, a subpoenaed witness (the victim’s mother) did not cooperate, and the responding officer did not witness the incident.

Davis, 30, was arrested July 11 on a misdemeanor battery charge in Miami Beach stemming from an alleged June 15 altercation outside the woman’s home in Doral. The police report stated that an argument over picking up the children escalated; it alleged Davis struck the woman and was later seen on phone video throwing a small box at her.

The Baltimore native has faced legal turbulence before, including multiple domestic-violence accusations and a 2023 sentence related to a 2020 hit-and-run that resulted in home confinement, probation, community service, and a subsequent 44-day jail stint after violating terms. In a separate 2022 case, an ex-girlfriend later recanted after initially calling 911.

In the ring, Davis is coming off a heavily disputed majority draw on March 1 against Lamont Roach, who moved up from junior lightweight. A June 21 rematch that shifted to August 16 was never formally announced and appeared uncertain even before Davis’s July arrest. The dismissal potentially clears the way for Team Davis to revisit late-2025 plans.
