Devin Haney has announced on social media that he’ll be returning to action in March after nearly a year on the sidelines. Following an 11-month break, Haney is keeping quiet about his potential opponent but has confirmed it won’t be Ryan Garcia, whose suspension for a positive test expires in April.

Fans would love to see Haney square off against top 140-pounders such as Alberto Puello, Teofimo Lopez, Sandor Martin, or Rolly Romero, but given his year-long absence and the tough three-knockdown loss to Garcia last April, Haney may opt for a tune-up against a less dangerous foe. With a lawsuit pending over Garcia's positive test for PED Ostarine, it’s unclear whether a Haney-Garcia rematch is in the cards anytime soon.

Some observers believe Haney might drop back down to 135 pounds, where there may be fewer heavy hitters. Rumor has it he’s looking lean in training photos, and making lightweight might be easier for him than battling bigger punchers at 140 or welterweight. Names like George Kambosos Jr. keep popping up as safe options, though Haney already outpointed "Ferocious" twice.

Whether he chooses a lightweight or junior welterweight opponent, the 24-year-old Haney insists he’s “back.” Now, it’s a matter of finding the right dance partner to shake off the ring rust - and possibly regain the momentum that was stalled after that eventful April clash with Kingry Garcia. Stay tuned for further announcements about who gets to test Haney's chin next.
