Teofimo Lopez has recently raised questions regarding Terence Crawford’s record at the 147-pound division, suggesting that many of Crawford’s opponents have been compromised by injuries. In a discussion with Boxing Social, Lopez pointed out that several of Crawford’s opponents, such as Errol Spence Jr., Jose Benavidez, and Kell Brook, had pre-existing injuries which he believes affected the outcomes of their fights against Crawford.

Lopez highlighted that Spence had recently undergone cataract surgery, while Benavidez had issues with his leg, and Brook had a history of eye injuries. These statements come amidst a growing appreciation for Crawford’s record, especially following his impressive performance against Spence, where he secured a ninth-round stoppage.

Despite acknowledging Crawford’s skills, Lopez, who is set to fight Jamaine Ortiz on February 8th, expressed a strong desire to move up to the 147-pound division and challenge Crawford directly. The 26-year-old is confident in his ability to compete at this level and is keen to take on the best in the division, including Crawford.

Lopez’s comments have sparked debate among boxing fans and analysts, with some viewing his challenge as overly ambitious, while others see it as a sign of his determination to face top-tier opponents. His intent to move up in weight and take on a dominant figure like Crawford reflects his aspirations to be at the forefront of the sport.
