Conor Benn has been "provisionally suspended" by United Kingdom Anti-Doping (UKAD) following a successful appeal by both UKAD and the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC). This decision overturns the previous clearance that allowed Benn to return to boxing after failing two anti-doping tests conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association in 2022.

Benn was initially tested positive for the banned substance clomifene while preparing for a high-profile fight against Chris Eubank Jr., scheduled for October 2022 at London’s O2 Arena. The disclosure of these positive test results during the fight week led to the event's cancellation.

Despite the setbacks, Benn was cleared by an appeal last summer to resume his boxing career. He made his U.S. debut defeating Rodolfo Orozco by unanimous decision in Orlando, Florida, and secured another unanimous decision against Peter Dobson in Las Vegas this past February. Prior to these matches, Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn had been planning a major stadium fight for Benn, with Manny Pacquiao targeted as a potential opponent following an in-person meeting in Saudi Arabia during preparations for Anthony Joshua's rematch against Francis Ngannou.

However, following the recent successful appeals by UKAD and the BBBoC, Benn is now subject to further disciplinary and investigative processes as mandated by U.K. Anti-Doping Rules. A statement from UKAD confirmed:

"As of May 7, 2024, Mr. Benn is once again under provisional suspension in accordance with the UK Anti-Doping Rules."
