Conor Benn, the undefeated welterweight, is eager to re-enter the boxing ring with intentions set high. In a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, Benn expressed interest in fighting the victor of the rematch between Terence Crawford and Errol Spence. He further articulated his willingness to take the battle to the U.S, acknowledging that many of the top 147 pounders are currently American fighters. Benn’s statement comes in the backdrop of Spence's decision to activate the rematch clause with Crawford, a move Benn personally finds questionable due to the one-sided nature of their previous bout.
Eddie Hearn, Benn’s promoter, has shown a preference for Benn to square off in the UK against domestic opponents like Chris Eubank Jr and Kell Brook. Yet, Benn’s focus remains global, primarily on acquiring a world title, even if it means fighting in the U.S. Benn's last fight was in April 2022, and the 147 division is currently brimming with talent such as Crawford, Boots Ennis, and Vergil Ortiz, leaving many wondering if Benn is up to the challenge.
Furthermore, Benn provided his perspective on the speculated bout between Crawford and Canelo Alvarez, suggesting that Crawford might have the upper hand. He lauds Crawford’s talent, referring to him as an “all-round great fighter” and expresses hope for a future face-off against him.
Conversations are underway about Benn's potential return to the boxing ring, with a date set for September 23rd in Orlando.
