Lightweight contender Keyshawn Davis has claimed he would knock out former two-division world champion Devin Haney if given the opportunity to fight him. Davis, who has been rising through the ranks, believes Haney lacks the power to keep him at bay and would struggle to handle his aggression. Drawing comparisons to Terence Crawford’s fighting style, Davis thinks his power and skill set would overwhelm Haney in a potential matchup.
Davis’ confidence comes as Haney’s stock has taken a hit following his loss to Ryan Garcia in April. Haney, once considered one of the brightest young stars in boxing, has struggled to regain his footing after the defeat, and Davis sees this as the perfect time to target him. "I feel like me and Devin Haney would be an easy fight for me. It would be super easy, and I know I would stop Devin Haney," said Davis.
Haney, who was often the bigger fighter in the lightweight division, has faced criticism for using his size advantage to dominate smaller opponents. Davis echoed this sentiment, suggesting that Haney’s past success was due in part to his size rather than his skill. "A lot of the guys were smaller than him. He was saying at the weigh-in, 'You’re too small.' So, he knew what he was doing, bro," Davis remarked.
While Davis is eager for a showdown, the fight may be complicated by the fact that Haney is expected to move up to welterweight, where he could face bigger challenges. Davis, meanwhile, is focused on his own rise in the lightweight division, where he continues to impress with his power and technical ability.
Whether or not a fight between Davis and Haney materializes, the 2020 Olympic silver medalist is confident that he has what it takes to dethrone the former champion. "What are you going to do to stop me? With what I got coming, I don’t feel like he’s got nothing to stop me," Davis stated.
