Brian “BoMac” McIntyre, coach of the undefeated welterweight champion Terence Crawford, has revealed the strategic blueprint he plans to use if Crawford secures a bout with boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez. According to BoMac, the key to defeating Canelo will be to focus on tactical boxing and constant movement, forcing the Mexican champion to chase Crawford around the ring for 12 rounds.

BoMac believes that making Canelo move and preventing him from setting his feet to unleash his powerful punches will be crucial. He compared the proposed game plan to the approach Crawford took in his recent fight against Israil Madrimov, where Crawford played it safe and avoided risks, ultimately securing a narrow decision victory. While the fight was criticized by fans for being uneventful, BoMac sees it as a template for how Crawford could potentially outbox Canelo, albeit in a way that might not excite fans.

For Crawford, the stakes are high. At 36 years old, BoMac has suggested that if the fight against Canelo doesn’t materialize, Crawford might consider retiring from the sport. Crawford is seeking a "legacy" fight, and a victory over Canelo would certainly add to his already impressive resume. However, without this fight, his last performance against Madrimov could stand as the final chapter of his career—a performance that did little to enhance his reputation.

Meanwhile, Canelo has other lucrative options on the table. The possibility of moving up to 175 pounds to face the winner of the upcoming Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol undisputed light heavyweight championship bout is one such option. A fight with Beterbiev, in particular, would be a thrilling encounter for fans, given Beterbiev's knockout power and aggressive style qualities that promise an action-packed showdown, unlike the tactical battle that a fight with Crawford might turn into.

Ultimately, while the tactical game plan outlined by BoMac could give Crawford a chance to outbox Canelo, it remains to be seen whether this fight will ever come to fruition.
