The illustrious York Hall, Bethnal Green, was the epicenter of boxing action as Caroline Dubois (8-0, 5 KOs) was trying to get the IBO World Lightweight Championship title in her eighth professional fight facing off against the formidable Mexican boxer, Magali Rodriguez (22-7-4, 9 KOs).
From the onset, Dubois displayed her dominance, particularly from the third round, where she began landing significant blows to Rodriguez’s body. This strategy paid off, weakening Rodriguez’s defense and allowing Dubois to land a series of successful punches. The sixth round saw Rodriguez hit the canvas after a powerful combination from Dubois. Although Rodriguez showed incredible resilience, especially in the ninth round, Dubois’s strength and skill were undeniable, as the scores stood at 98-89, 97-90, and 99-88, marking a significant win for the rising star. In her post-fight interview, Dubois acknowledged Rodriguez’s tenacity and hinted at more fiery bouts in her future.
In the co-main event, Viddal Riley (10-0, 6 KOs) continued his undefeated streak, marking his tenth win against Nathan Quarless (12-1, 0 KOs) and securing the English Championship title. Contrary to expectations, Riley dominated the fight, leaving no round to Quarless. His strategy, a blend of precision and power, was evident throughout the bout. Riley’s victory not only solidified his position in the boxing world but also hinted at potential future challenges.
Also in the undercard, the heavyweight bout between Igor Macedo (12-1, 12 KOs) and Jeamie TKV (5-1, 3 KOs) was cut short due to a severe cut above TKV’s eye. Despite the abrupt end, both fighters showcased their skill and determination, making it a memorable fight.
Ben Shalom, the founder and CEO of BOXXER, praised both Dubois and Riley for their exceptional performances, hinting at potential future matchups and acknowledging their growing influence in the boxing world.
