The clash between Jake Paul and the legendary Mike Tyson drew an astounding 60 million viewers worldwide on Netflix last Friday night. The event, held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, also packed in a live crowd of 72,300 fans. However, despite the impressive numbers, the fight quickly turned into a lopsided affair, leaving many disappointed.
While Netflix’s streaming numbers are impressive, there was no shortage of complaints from fans regarding the quality of the broadcast. Many reported issues with video freezes and lags during the live stream. If Netflix plans to continue showcasing boxing events, it’s clear they will need to prioritize competitive matchups and improve their streaming capabilities to maintain subscriber satisfaction.

The co-feature between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano also garnered significant viewership, with 50 million tuning in to watch the fierce bout. However, that fight was marred by frequent accidental head clashes and a deep cut suffered by Serrano.
Promoter Oscar De La Hoya was particularly vocal about his displeasure, calling out Jake Paul for exploiting Tyson’s legendary status. "I was disgusted watching Jake fight a 58-year-old legend like Mike Tyson just for publicity," De La Hoya said. He even went on to challenge Paul to face Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez, suggesting that if Jake wants a real fight, "Zurdo will knock him out."
