Fight Details

Xander Zayas is set to headline an event during the Puerto Rican Day Parade weekend in New York, facing Brazilian former world titleholder Patrick Teixeira in a 10-round middleweight bout. This fight, scheduled at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, not only marks a milestone for Zayas as his first main-event appearance but also aligns with a significant cultural celebration, echoing the legacy of Miguel Cotto who fought on the same weekend 19 years prior. The event will be broadcasted live on ESPN, ESPN+ and ESPN Deportes while British fans can watch it live on Sky Sports.

Zayas aims to capture his 19th professional win, following in the footsteps of Puerto Rican legends like Hector Camacho and Felix Trinidad. Expressing his dedication, Zayas stated, “Representing Puerto Rico on a day when our culture is celebrated is a sacred commitment I have with my people. I won’t just be fighting for myself on June 8; I’ll be fighting for every Puerto Rican who perseveres when times are tough.”

In the co-feature, Brooklyn's Bruce "Shu Shu" Carrington (11-0, 7 KOs) aims to extend his knockout streak against the tough Panamian contender Brayan De Gracia (29-3-1, 25 KOs) in a ten-round featherweight bout.

Previously, Carrington, a championship hopeful, delighted his hometown fans with a spectacular knockout victory over Bernard Torres in February at The Theater at Madison Square Garden.

Next in line for Carrington is veteran fighter Bryan De Gracia. De Gracia, a seasoned professional with 12 years in the ring, has only been stopped once in his career. His most recent outing was a closely contested decision loss to former world title challenger Edward Vazquez in Texas last July.

In the undercard, Jahi Tucker (10-1-1, 5 KOs) looks to rebound from recent challenges in his career as he faces Quincy LaVallais (17-4-1, 12 KOs) in an eight-round junior middleweight fight. Tucker, a young prospect with a point to prove, encounters LaVallais, who has a mixed record but brings experience and a tough challenge to the rising star.

Moreover, U.S. Olympian Delante "Tiger" Johnson (12-0, 6 KOs) continues to build on his promising career in an eight-round bout against the once-beaten Tarik Zaina (13-1-1, 8 KOs).
