In the main event of the “Night of Champions III,” WBA Continental Americas bantamweight champion Antonio Vargas (16-1, 9 KOs) defends his title against Francisco Pedroza Portillo (18-11-2, 10 KOs) at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, FL on CBS Sports Network.
The fight night will air via tape delay on CBS Sports on Saturday, May 13.
Vargas, a 2016 US Olympian hailing from Kissimmee, FL, is ranked #7 by the World Boxing Association (WBA) and is coming off an impressive sixth-round stoppage of Michell Banquez in February 2023. His opponent, Portillo from Tijuana, Mexico, looks to derail Vargas’ momentum following his stunning unanimous decision win over former world champion and three-time US Olympian Rau’shee Warren in August 2022.
In the co-main event, Junior “The Young God” Younan (17-0-1, 11 KOs) from Brooklyn, NY, faces off against Alan Campa (18-7, 12 KOs) in an eight-round super middleweight clash. Younan, 27, demolished Dauren Yeleussinov in less than a round in his most recent bout.
The event will open with Cuban welterweight sensation Damian Lescaille (3-0, 2 KOs) in an eight-round bout against an opponent yet to be announced. Lescaille, who has made Miami, FL his home, is keen to showcase his skills in front of the Orlando crowd.
