Houston’s Red Owl Boxing Arena will buzz next Friday night as BOXFEST XV rolls into town, streamed live on DAZN. Headlining is the bantamweight perfection against perfection: Brooklyn-bred Khalid Twaiti (14-0, 5 KOs) meets Houston’s own Emanuel Moreno (10-0, 3 KOs) in another eight-rounder. Twaiti’s smooth angles and volume will collide with Moreno’s stalking body attack.
The co-feature pits slick southpaw Antonio Perez (10-0, 5 KOs) tests his unblemished slate against seasoned Chicagoan Alex Martin (18-7, 6 KOs).
The #102-ranked Perez has built his résumé on sharp counterpunching and footwork, but Friday marks his first step up against a foe who has gone rounds with fringe contenders. Martin’s seven losses hide a granite chin and a tendency to spoil prospects’ plans; if Perez shines, he proves he’s more than just local hype.
The undercard features a six-round welterweight clash between San Antonio technician Angel Perez (9-0, 7 KOs) and rugged Puerto Rican puncher Axl Melendez Salgado (7-1, 4 KOs). Perez called the bout “my last tune-up before ten-round territory,” but Salgado’s 75 percent stoppage rate suggests it may be anything but.
