Amir Khan has swapped gloves for the promoter’s mic, and his next big move is aimed at the heart of African boxing. On June 13, the former unified world champion will stage a major fight night in Accra, Ghana, in partnership with Legacy Promotions and backed by DAZN, marking a bold step toward globalizing the sport’s reach.
The card is headlined by American cruiserweight contender Andrew Tabiti (21-2, 17 KOs), who faces Ghana’s heavy-handed local star Jacob Dickson (14-1, 13 KOs) in what’s expected to be an explosive main event. In the co-feature, the always-entertaining Brit Ohara Davies (25-4, 18 KOs) returns from retirement to take on Tanzania’s Mohammed Aliseni (22-9-3, 13 KOs).
“This isn’t just a boxing event – it’s a statement,” said Legacy Promotions CEO Sharaf Mahama, underlining their intent to create a sustainable boxing platform in West Africa. For Khan, who has reactivated his promotional banner AK Promotions for the occasion, the motivation is personal. “Ghana is a place I would’ve loved to fight. I’m not in the ring anymore, but I’m still fighting – for the next generation,” said the Bolton native.
The undercard also showcases African and international prospects, including a WBO Africa bantamweight title fight between Daniel Gorsh and Theophilus Allotey, a national title clash between Ahmed Abdula and Haruna Mohammed, plus appearances from UK-based talent Shiloh Defreitas and Bulgarian Olympian Radoslav Rosenov.
