In a highly anticipated showdown, undefeated Mexican fighter Jaime Munguia (41-0, 32 KOs) is set to face off against the formidable Sergiy “The Technician” Derevyanchenko (14-4, 10 KOs) in a 12-round middleweight bout at the Toyota Arena on DAZN.
This marks Munguia’s most challenging test to date, and he is eager to prove himself in the ring. “I am very excited to return to the ring and even more excited to face a fighter like Derevyanchenko,” Munguia said, adding that fans can expect a thrilling and intense fight.
Oscar De La Hoya, CEO and Chairman of Golden Boy Promotions, praised Munguia’s ambition for taking on challenging opponents, highlighting Derevyanchenko’s track record of going the distance with top middleweights. De La Hoya believes a victory over Derevyanchenko would put Munguia in a prime position for a world title shot.
Munguia was last seen in action in November 2022, when he effortlessly claimed a third-round knockout victory against Gonzalo Coria in front of a hometown crowd in Guadalajara, Mexico. On the other hand, Derevyanchenko secured a unanimous decision win over Joshua Conley in July 2022. The Ukrainian fighter has faced renowned opponents such as Gennadiy “GGG” Golovkin and Jermall Charlo, showcasing his skill and experience in the sport.
