Former WBC Youth welterweight champion Isaac "La Bestia" Lucero (11-0, 7 KOs) squares off against Ricardo Banuelos (18-7-1, 7 KOs) in a ten-round super welterweight contest.
In April of last year, the 24-year-old Lucero of La Paz, Mexico, won the vacant WBC Youth 147-pound championship by unanimous decision over Cristian Sonora. Before having to give up the title due to age, he successfully defended the title once, defeating the previously unbeaten Eduardo Pea. Lucero has competed in almost 100 amateur fights and has won four national amateur championships in Mexico.
To begin the new year, Lucero will encounter a challenging test in Banuelos of Tultitlán, Mexico. In 26 professional fights, Banuelos has fought much stiffer competition, including Omar "Pollo" Aguilar, Diego Cruz, and Kevin Salgado among others. He also recently defeated Alejandro "Pajaro" Davila by a split decision.
