The World Boxing Association (WBA) will contest the still-vacant women’s 175-pound absolute belt between Che Kenneally (4-0, 1 KO) and Angie Paola Rocha (14-4-3, 7 KOs) on July 20 in Brisbane, Australia.
Kenneally, a 29-year-old native of Sydney, Australia, has had a distinguished amateur career, having started boxing at the age of 15. She has participated in elite world championships and faced notable opponents like Olympian Lauren Price. After the pandemic and a lack of competition, Kenneally decided to turn professional, making her debut on March 18, 2023, with a fourth-round technical knockout victory against Rhianna Arnold.
In her debut year, Kenneally won two more fights and defeated Sequita Hemingway in a rematch on March 23rd. That bout marked her first 8-round fight, and today she stands as the number one contender in the WBA light heavyweight rankings. Kenneally has earned this world title chance, which will be her 10-round debut, boasting an unblemished record.
