Ardreal Holmes Jr. is set to headline the next edition of Big Time Boxing USA on September 12, as he faces Hugo Noriega in a highly anticipated super welterweight bout at the Dort Financial Center in Flint, Michigan. The ten-round fight will be broadcast live on DAZN, bringing local and international attention to what promises to be an exciting night of boxing.
Holmes Jr. (15-0, 6 KOs), an unbeaten 30-year-old southpaw, will be defending his USBA 154-pound title in front of his hometown crowd. Coming off a second-round TKO victory against Marlon Harrington in February, Holmes Jr. is eager to continue his winning streak and move one step closer to his dream of a world title shot. "There’s nothing like fighting at home, and I know on Sept. 12, there will be a raucous crowd rooting me on," Holmes Jr said. "When I get my ‘W’ over Hugo Noriega, it will put me just that much closer to my dream of winning a world title."
His opponent, Hugo Noriega (10-2, 5 KOs), a 34-year-old veteran from Cuba now based in Miami, is also fighting for the second time this year. Noriega secured a unanimous decision victory over Saul Corral in March and is looking to build on that momentum with another win. Despite being the underdog, Noriega's experience makes him a formidable opponent for the undefeated Holmes Jr.
The co-main event will see Joseph Hicks (10-0, 7 KOs) from Grand Rapids, Michigan, take on Las Vegas-based Ronnie Austion (10-2, 7 KOs) from Detroit in an eight-round super welterweight bout. Both fighters are looking to solidify their standing in the division with a statement win.
