Nick Ball (20-0-1, 11 KOs) is set to defend his WBA featherweight title in a homecoming fight against Ronny Rios (34-4, 17 KOs) on October 5 in Liverpool, England.
Ball captured the title in June with a thrilling split-decision victory over Raymond Ford in Riyadh. This win came on the heels of his first title challenge in March, where he battled to a split-decision draw with Rey Vargas, flooring the former champion twice in the process. The 27-year-old Ball is currently ranked No. 5 in ESPN's featherweight rankings.
Ronny Rios, hailing from Southern California, steps up as Ball’s challenger. The 34-year-old Rios is coming off a fifth-round knockout of Nicolas Polanco in April, marking his return to the ring after a 12th-round TKO loss to Murodjon Akhmadaliev in June 2022, where he contested for two 122-pound titles. Although Rios is currently unranked, his experience and power make him a dangerous opponent.
The co-main event showcases another Liverpool native, Andrew Cain (11-1, 10 KOs), who is known for his knockout power. Additionally, Cuba’s unbeaten Jadier Herrera (14-0, 12 KOs) will appear on the undercard.
